A lot of people swear by AdSense. They make big checks and are definitely success stories on their own, but, is AdSense the end all for online advertising? Lately I’ve started to think that maybe AdSense is the lazy approach to making money online. Now I use AdSense and definitely am a believer in it, but, consider this. If somebody is willing to pay you say $1.00 per click are you the one making the best money or are they? Obviously they would not continue to pay a set amount per click unless they were successfully converting those clicks.

There are a LOT of people who have been using AdSense because it’s easy, simple, and automatically relevant to your page content. What if you would take some time and put equally relevant affiliate and commission based links and banners on your website in place of your AdSense code? AdSense is the middle man. Often times if you look at your AdSense links that are being added to your pages you will see that they are simply links to websites that are doing exactly what you are doing, but, they are not using AdSense to make money. Instead they have several relevant products and services advertised.

The trick with making the jump from AdSense marketing to affiliate marketing is to be patient. You aren’t going to make money every day right away with affiliate marketing, but, if you make 10% commission on each sale and you refer several people in a month’s time who purchase a product for $100, that’s $10 per sale for you. If the offer isn’t converting well then try something else. Obviously somebody is converting on your AdSense clicks, so why not find out what they are selling and simply promote that very product through an affiliate link on your website? Cut out the middle man. It works in every type of business and it is an equally valid practice when it comes to profiting on the web. Sure you will have to actually sit down and figure out what campaigns to market and it will take longer than simply implementing AdSense code, but, in the long run if you can successfully covert business you will make more money than by paying the middle man.
