You’ve probably heard that content is king? Well that’s 100% correct, but, there is one catch. Somebody needs to write the content. If you are looking to hire some writers and get some quick content, you shouldn’t have any problem finding quality writers for dirt cheap. However, if you are a writer and want to earn some extra cash on the side don’t expect to make your part time fortune writing articles for somebody else.

From what I’ve seen on several popular webmaster and business forums across the net the going rate for a 300-500 word article is about $5. Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s roughly $5 an hour. People who need quick content are almost never looking for quality content. They are willing to settle for cheap yet decent content because the truth is they don’t really care about the content. They simply want relevant high paying Google or Yahoo ads to be generated and displayed to their visitors and readers. So their article is junk? No problem, luckily Google found several related websites that will catch the interest of their viewers, at several dollars a click.

Is this good business? No. In fact these types of sites are highly frowned upon by Google and the rest of the webmaster community. They have a nickname of “MFA”, or “Made for Adsense” sites. They are usually ugly, poorly designed, and very spammy.

But what am I getting at? Just keep reading. 9 times out of 10, anybody looking to hire a writer for some quick articles is almost certainly setting up a MFA site. That’s why they are looking to get quick content as cheaply as possible. What if you enjoy writing and want to make money doing what you love? Why not start a website or your own? Choose a topic that interests you and start writing content for yourself. I’m not saying you should make a MFA site. In fact you’ll risk losing your Adsense account if you do, but, instead, why not create a legitimate website or blog centering around what you enjoy? Why make $5 an hour for somebody else when you can overtime earn so much more? You’ll also find that when writing for yourself you are going to care a lot more about your work.

Moral of the story? There is no money writing articles for low budget webmasters without the time or motivation to write articles for themselves. However, if you put yourself to work and get motivated you will soon find that you can make more money creating your own content for use on your own websites.
